P20 Steel & Fully Hardened Steel Toolmaking

P20 Steel & Fully Hardened Steel toolmaking is traditionally used for high-volume production (in excess of 50 000 units).

We offer the full range of high-end traditional tool making with the benefit of using the same quality, speed of manufacture and operational systems developed by us for tooling manufacture.

Moulds using hardened steel inserts and movement will produce parts that retain their quality over what could be millions of parts.

50% of the moulds that Dudley Associates produce are P20 steel or Fully Hardened steel.

Over the years we have been involved in manufacturing tools with unscrewing mechanisms, cams, 'up & aways' and side actions for clients in sectors such as Industrial, Aerospace, Automotive, Electrical and Medical.

Most of the cavity work is hard machined with our Roder’s High Speed RXP 500 leaving minimal spark eroding time. The fine machining not only shortens the lead time, it also reduces the cost to mirror polish the fixed half of the mould.

Typical lead-times can be 4-6 weeks, however this is dependent on the product complexity and tool functionality.
